Anterior Cruciate Ligament - Return to Sport after Injury Scale (ACL-RSI): Oversettelse til norsk og vurdering av psykometriske egenskaper

Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a serious injury that require a long period of rehabilitation. The majority of people sustaining an ACL-injury are adolescents with an active lifestyle. Many undergo ACL reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation with the goal of returning to sports or activities placing high demands on knee stability. Between 40 - 50 % of the persons who have undergone surgery and rehabilitation do not return to their pre-injury level of sports. This despite the fact that they are physically rehabilitated. There is a need for examining which factors may predict return to sports. Clinical screening for inexpedient psychological responses in patients who have undergone an ACL-reconstruction before and after surgery may guide clinicians in identifying those at risk of not returning to their pre-injury level of sports. These patients may be in need of a different focus in their exercises and treatment.

The aim of this study is to translate the ACL-RSI Scale into Norwegian, examine the psychometric properties of the Norwegian version and perform a factor analysis.

Related/connected projects

  • Test-retest analysis
  • Examination of potential connections between the patients physical performance and scores on the ACL-RSI 9 months after surgery
  • Examination of whether the ACL-RSI may predict physical functioning and re-injury 1-2 years after surgery
  • Description of the patients psychological responses as they are contemplating return to sports or not
